Maria’s Musical Projects
For 20 years, the Maria Volonte Tango Jazz Ensemble has been the cornerstone of Maria’s explorations of Argentine music from tango to folclore, from Astor Piazzolla to Cuchi Leguizamon. With the ensemble, Maria has made an indelible mark on Argentine music that has been filled with passion, adventurousness and unrivaled musicianship. The list of musicians who have formed a part of the ensemble over the years reads like a who’s who of Argentine music: Horacio Larumbe, Cholo Mamone, Pocho PorteƱo Vega, Facundo Bergalli, Oscar Giunta, Daniel Garcia and Tangoloco, Walther Rios, Pedro Giraudo, Dario Eskenazi, Franco Pinna and many more.

Maria’s solo show is intense and intimate. When Maria accompanies herself on guitar, it is full of echoes of her childhood when she and her five sisters spent endless afternoons playing guitar and singing; or to the beginning of her professional career when she sang at the Plaza Dorrego in San Telmo in Buenos Aires.

The internationally-acclaimed duo of Argentine bandoneon player Daniel Binelli and pianist Polly Ferman have teamed up with vocalist Maria Volonte. These three artists — each masters of their art — have joined forces to offer a stunning interpretation of Argentine music.
